"We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power and the wonders He has done."

Psalm 78:4

We believe God created each one of us in His image, with unique capacities and abilities, and that He revealed Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. We therefore support each child as a holistic and precious being, we respect each child as an individual, and we work to support each child’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

There are certain qualities – such as wonder, awareness, stillness, goodness, compassion, and faith – which, when well tended, help bring a strong and resilient Christian faith to fruition in each of us. The Montessori curriculum is particularly well suited to fostering these essential qualities. The specifically faith-based activities within our curriculum help to crystallize the Christian values and beliefs implicit in how we engage with one another in all areas of this classroom and in our lives. These activities include listening to Bible stories, re-enacting events with model figures, engaging together in prayer and contemplation, and reading short verses of Scripture. This cultivates a rich soil for faith to take root in us; to strengthen, grow, and blossom in our hearts, words, and deeds.

We are blessed to have Fr. Rob Spaliatsos as our school chaplain. As the parish priest of the Annunciation Orthodox Christian Church in which we are located, Fr. Rob is able to be present with the children each week. He supports our school in leading morning prayer and sharing stories that enrich and deepen our children’s understanding of Jesus Christ, the beauty and glory of God’s creation and His love for each one of us.

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”

Proverbs 22: 5-7
