The Montessori Method emphasizes children’s holistic development as individuals striving for both independence and interconnectedness with the world around them. Montessori classrooms are unique in that they are composed of a group of children of mixed ages who stay with the class community for three years before moving on. Montessori classrooms are also easily recognized by their specialized hands-on materials, which form the backbone of the curriculum and give children opportunities to explore their world, master skills, and internalize new concepts.
